Agnieszka Gedek

PR & Marketing Trainee

Agnieszka (Aga for those who do not speak native Polish) joined us in February 2021 and is a Master student in Business & Management at Hong Kong Baptist University. Read more about her experience at EuroCham below.

What is your favourite project you worked on while at EuroCham?

It’s hard to answer, because I enjoyed so many of our projects! But I think the most exciting was creating our new EuroCham leaflet, where we introduced the Chamber and its operations in an engaging and attractive way. I liked putting my creative side to use! It’s rather amazing that some of my work is actually going to represent the Chamber even when I leave.

What are the key takeaways from your traineeship?

It was my first ever traineeship and I think my biggest takeaway is definitely adopting to the work culture and getting to know how things are done in a real-world. Moreover, knowing that my work will be seen by important figures in the business world was something I had to definitely get used to!

I also learned how to use tools such as Mailchimp, Canva and the dreaded Wordpress in these months – definitely expanded my marketing software repertoire!

What was your most valuable experience?

One of the most valuable experiences was probably organising and taking part in our event “Evening Talk on Open, Sustainable and Assertive EU Trade Policy as a Drive for Change in Asia”. I helped creating the promotional materials, setting up the event and with the guests' reception.

It was exciting meeting and networking with likeminded people and expand my understanding of Europe, its policies and their impact on Asia and Hong Kong. During this event we also faced some minor  organisation issues, which definitely taught me a little bit about the mini crisis management!

If you were to give a piece of advice to future trainees, what would it be?

Be creative and don’t be afraid of voicing your thoughts – trainees also have good ideas and they will be listened and valued! Also, you don’t need to wear a suit to the interview ;)
