Initiated in 1997, the European Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong (EuroCham) is a non-governmental business interest group. The EuroCham is a ‘Chamber of Chambers’ with its membership comprising 16 European Chambers based in Hong Kong. The appointed representatives of these chambers make up EuroCham’s Board of Directors.
Over 1,600 European companies are operating in Hong Kong. In 2019, Europe maintained its position as Hong Kong’s second-largest trading partner after mainland China and Hong Kong’s second-largest export destination and third-largest import supplier. The relationship between Europe and Hong Kong continues to benefit from extensive people-to-people contacts, notably in research, academic cooperation, student mobility, culture, and creative industries.
Our Key Objectives
Provide a European forum to exchange information, discuss common challenges businesses are facing, and publish position papers to put forward our recommendations
Promote commercial, industrial, financial, scientific, and other economic exchange between Europe, Hong Kong, Macau, and the Greater Bay Area
Host functions that allow members to network with stakeholders from Europe, Hong Kong, Macau, and the Greater Bay Area, including hosting of officials from the European Union (EU)
Hong Kong Relations
EuroCham participates in the International Business Committee (chaired by the HKSAR Chief Secretary for Administration). The committee allows international business associations & chambers to discuss and lobby ‘face to face’ with the Hong Kong Government and its officials. IBC meetings take place 5 – 6 times per year and topics discussed are related to matters affecting international aspects and perceptions of the business environment in Hong Kong.
EuroCham is also a member of the European Business Organisations Network (EBO WWN). EBO Worldwide Network stands as the organisation representing European business interests in markets outside the European Union. It represents an active network of more than 35 key markets that serve European multinationals. EuroCham and European business associations within the EBO Global Network have a dialogue with the European Commission on a regular basis.
