About EUBIP
The European Union Business Information Programme (EUBIP) is a three-year initiative that aims to enhance business between companies from the European Union, Hong Kong and Macao.
EUBIP is a partnership between the European Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong, the Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) and the Institute of European Studies of Macau (IEEM). It is funded by grants from the European Commission, IPIM and IEEM.
EUBIP aims to leverage the resources, expertise and networks of its three partners to share information and organise and/or fund practical, timely and relevant projects that:
- generate business leads
- exchange sector expertise and best-practice
- reduce market access barriers
- build business efficiency
Priority sectors are: the environment and sustainable development, intellectual property, financial services, health and food safety, trade, customs and logistics services and standards.
EUBIP also serves as a vehicle to promote a better understanding between the three economic regions and to provide up-to-date information on EU policies, regulations and institutions to companies, business associations, policy makers and regulators.
The EU-HK/MC Business Council brings together European companies in Hong Kong and Macau to address market access and development issues in these sectors. The aim is to feed into EU policy vis a vis the Hong Kong and Macau SARs.
Views from the EUBIP Consortium Partners:
“EUBIP is doubly important at a time when the whole community is experiencing the effects of the global economic slowdown. Through events, sharing of expertise and the broadening of our business networks with the European Union and with European companies based in the region, we aim to create real opportunities for our local business community.”
Dr Lee Peng Hong
President of the Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM)
“By pooling our resources we’re multiplying the advantages we bring to Macao. One example is our annual seminar on intellectual property rights, which is considered a must-attend event for all companies concerned about protecting IP and building brands in the Greater China region.”
Dr José Luís de Sales Marques
President of the Institute of European Studies of Macau (IEEM)
“EUBIP is about creating tangible benefits through practical and business-relevant initiatives and activities. We believe we can build on our already strong ties to bring together even more business people from Europe, Macao and Hong Kong.”
