Eco Expo Asia is the No. 1 international trade fair in Asia for environmental protection, held once a year at AsiaWorld-Expo in Hong Kong. Following last year’s successful European Pavilion at the Eco Expo Asia, EuroCham is pleased to take part in this year’s event on 25-28 October at AsiaWorld-Expo in Hong Kong.

This year’s event features environmental protection solutions, technologies and products including Water Treatment and Quality Management, Green Buildings and Energy Efficiency, Green Transportation, Waste Management and Recycling, Air Quality, Eco-friendly products as well as Testing, Analysis and Certification. The event offers a unique platform for manufacturers and suppliers of environmental goods and services.

We are still looking for FOUR (4) EXHIBITORS to join us in the European Pavilion, which will be open to companies with exhibiting European products and services.

Our corporate exhibitors will enjoy an extremely competitive participation package:

ASIFMA is Asia’s leading financial industry association with over 100 members representing a diverse range of financial institutions from both sell side and buy side, including banks, asset managers, law firms, rating agencies and market infrastructure service providers. Together with SIFMA and AFME, partner organisations in the US and Europe, they are part of the GFMA alliance.

Like last year, they are organizing our Annual Conference around the EU-Asia Financial Services Forum hosted by the IOSCO Asia-Pacific Regional Committee and the EU Commission in Kuala Lumpur on 31 October 2018.  Many of the heads of regulatory agencies in Asia and senior EU Commission officials are invited to and will attend this Conference in Singapore as it follows immediately after their Forum.

The analysis presented in today's Country Reports shows that the economic recovery, together with the reforms carried out in many parts of Europe, has contributed to improving the labour market and social context in Europe. Unemployment is at a ten-year low and almost back to pre-crisis levels, investment is picking up and public finances continue to improve. The share of people at risk of poverty or social exclusion has decreased to pre-crisis levels. However, remaining vulnerabilities, such as the high level of public and private debt, need to be overcome to safeguard the sustainability and inclusiveness of the current economic growth.

You, as business leaders, also have choices to make in a context of uncertainty. The UK will leave the EU on 29 March 2019. That is the only certainty we have at this stage. It is therefore important that all businesses analyse their exposure to the UK and are ready to adapt their logistics, supply chains and contracts. Of course, the transition period currently under negotiation would give you more time to adapt. However, certainty about the transition will only come at the end of the process, with the ratification of the withdrawal agreement by both sides –probably early next year.
