Internship Opportunities

Initiated in 1997, the European Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong (ECC) is a non-governmental business interest group. The ECC is a ‘Chamber of Chambers’ with its membership comprising 14 European Chambers based in Hong Kong and 1 in Macau. The European Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong creates business opportunities via its network of Chambers, business associations and government agencies.

Assistant – Business Councils

ECC is looking for interns to assist Business Councils in their research work and constructing position papers to the European Commission.

The five Business Councils and one working group in ECC represent specific industries (IPR Protection, Financial Business Services, Information and Communication Technology, Environment and Energy, Automotive, and PRD working group) with the aim to provide input for the formulation of EU bilateral policies with relevant interlocutors in Hong Kong and Macau authorities.

The intern will participate in the meetings of the council and assist the council members in the research and studies of EU-related business, trade and investment in Hong Kong. The daily tasks will include for example conducting interviews with stakeholders, summarizing information and writing reports. The councils consist of members of the leading companies in their field in Hong Kong. The intern is given a unique opportunity to work in co-operation with high-level business leaders. The intern will work closely with two or three councils.

A perfect intern is interested in international business and regulations around it as well as the industries the councils cover. The internship is a perfect opportunity for a student of European studies, international relations, politics, law, business, or other relevant field. The intern has to have excellent interpersonal and organizational skills and strong communication skills in English. Successful intern will have plenty of energy and initiative but also flexibility and open mind.

The interns will be located in our headquarters in the heart of Hong Kong Central and will have the chance to work with the European business community in Hong Kong.

The duration for the unpaid internship should be 3-6 months, with the following timelines:

Spring internship February-May, apply by December
Summer internship June-August, apply by April
Fall internship September-January, apply by July
